Our Practice Areas
Adoption Law
Families can be made complete through adoption. Chrissy has extensive experience in adoption law, including: Independent Adoption, 453 Adoption, Foster Care Adoption, Adult Adoption, Step Parent Adoption, and Second Parent Adoption. Chrissy can also advise you regarding Post-Adoption Contact Agreements and draft a document that will be in your child’s best interest.
Chrissy understands that most adoptive families have waited months or even years to be able to proceed with their adoption. Chrissy will make drafting and filing your adoption case her priority. She will do her best to obtain the soonest available hearing date so that you do not have to wait one day longer in welcoming your new family member.
Guardianship of Minor
Guardianship of a minor is the transfer of all parental authority to a third person. A child’s birth parent is their natural guardian. When a birth parent is unfit, unable or unwilling to fulfill those duties, the court may appoint a third party to become that child’s legal guardian. Guardianship is unlike a Durable Power of Attorney executed by a birth parent in that, only a court can order a guardianship and only a court can terminate said guardianship.
Many times, when a person is seeking to be appointed as a child’s guardian, it is an urgent and unplanned matter. Chrissy can assist you with obtaining a temporary order or developing other solutions until a final order can be entered.
Juvenile Court
Chrissy has practiced in juvenile court since 2008 and is familiar with Juvenile Office and Children’s Division policy. Chrissy has experience representing children in delinquency matters and non-offending parents and grandparents in abuse/neglect cases. Chrissy also represents foster parents in advocating for the child’s best interest.
Uncontented Divorce and other Family Law Issues
Chrissy has practiced in the family law arena since 2003. Divorce and other family law matters can be emotionally and financially devastating. You should not have to go into to extraordinary debt to get divorced or to modify your custody schedule.
For most uncontested family law issues, including Divorce, Child Custody, Paternity, Child Support, Legal Name Change, and Modification a reasonable flat fee is charged.
